Boxed in is an artistic interpretation that uses a graphical translation, in a series of artworks that give a contemporary voice to how mental disorders can be perceived. Using a topic that is very much questioned enables a connection for the audience to interact and understand how people that suffer; feel. Drawing attention to disorders such as: Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, Dementia, O.C.D, Alzheimers, Schizophrenia, Autism, Bipolar, Phobias, Paranoia, Dyslexia, Dissociative, Eating, Gender and Narcolepsy.

Using the perspective box shapes apparent throughout these works allows a visual depth, but also a depth within meaning. Going back to the base definition of where mental disorders are encased; the brain. The head is therefore deemed the box; a brain box. Translating the literal meanings through the visualisations gives reflection on the stigma surrounding this topic.

Without creating a romanticised stance on the issues that people face who suffer with these disorder. It is apparent the nature of the work is to bring an acceptance and understanding in the most simplest format to explain that anyone can be going through anything at one time.

There is no way to know what is going on in someones head with out asking; please talk.
